Iran’s Khamenei says US, Israel links behind ‘thousands killed’ in protests

Iran's supreme leader has made a rare acknowledgement that thousands of people have been killed in recent protests. But he's accusing the United States and Israel of being responsible for the violence. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has called US President Donald Trump a criminal and says he will not let his country be dragged into war. Meanwhile, it's still difficult to get in touch with people inside Iran. The internet and phone services have been mostly cut for more than a week. Authorities have restored access to domestic text messaging, but international calls and texts are still down. Only local websites can be accessed. The government shut down communication networks on January 8, to stop protesters from organising. Iranian media reports at least 3,000 people involved in anti-government demonstrations have been arrested. Tehran's public prosecutor has hit back at Donald Trump. That's after the US President said Iran had halted 800 executions after facing pressure from Washington. Ali Salehi rejected the claim, Al Jazeera's Resul Serdar is monitoring developments from Tehran, through a satellite link. He killed these people. Whoever believes that they shut down internet and all communications and were victim are stupid. Of course Ghatar likes the Islamic Republic to stay in power, they have made a lot of money since they are in power.

The news anchors bias is showing. It is clear, she is the wrong kind of anchors or news reader for Al Jazera.

The truth is clear: The Islamic Republic is holding the people of Iran hostage. The IRGC has murdered protesters who demanded freedom. There can be no dialogue with a regime that kills its own people.

To be fair, Israel have openly bragged about Mossad agents on the ground in Iran, instigating the violence. Why does the media have such a problem accepting this.?

Ive just been told by my friend in iran (we managed a 1 minute whatsapp call before the Internet cut out again) that in there city they killed over 1000 people and they were burning people alive, very terrible stuff, spread whatever news you can anywhere you can if you hear from anyone there, it helps them out if the rest of the world knows exactly what the terrible things there government is doing to them

They keep repeating this line, "the gap between the state and the people" as if the people think all alike and would vote all for the same guy. There were mass demonstrations both against and for the government. The people united will never be defeated, right? But they failed to get the army to switch sides, and the army are a lot of people.

So, they did all of that for nothing? And some of them lost their life and some get arrested and will lose their life for nothing? What was the point of that?
