Brian Kabateck, Shant Karnikian, and civil rights attorney Greg Kirakosian examine ICE agent Jonathan Ross's fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good through the lens of his prior traumatic incident. Greg specializes in use of force and police shooting cases. Brian reveals Ross was dragged 100 feet by a car just months earlier during another ICE operation in June 2025, suffering injuries requiring 33 stitches. He broke the suspect's window and reached inside—getting his arm stuck—before being dragged. Brian questions why Ross wasn't placed on desk duty or required retraining after such a significant incident. Greg argues the prior incident is highly relevant: Ross learned the wrong lesson. Instead of using safer tactics, he decided to "just open fire and kill somebody" to avoid being hurt again. This violates every bit of training and clearly established law. Greg believes Ross may have intentionally staged the Minneapolis confrontation—deliberately positioning himself in front of Good's moving vehicle to create justification for deadly force. The shooting occurred after the brief moment of danger passed, making it retribution, not self-defense. Greg emphasizes deadly force is only justified when there's imminent threat of severe bodily injury or death—that threat had ended when Ross opened fire. Good was attempting to flee, not attack. JD Vance claimed Ross has "absolute immunity," which Greg calls third-grade analysis—there's no such thing as absolute immunity for officers who shoot civilians. The Trump administration immediately declared Ross a hero and Good a villain, contrary to normal police responses which would be "we're investigating." Greg notes this sends a chilling message: stand up to ICE agents and you'll be executed, then blamed. Brian points out three officers gave Good conflicting instructions while she, a civilian mother of three with no criminal history, was terrified and overwhelmed. Greg explains the administration refuses to share investigative materials with local authorities, making state prosecution extremely difficult though legally possible.

As a trained mental health professional my first response was to ask who the Hell cleared him for work in the field. That does not, however, absolve him of responsibility.
