For those wondering, the source behind all of this is legendary film critic Pauline Kael and her original review of Top Gun, where she called it _"an extended, shiny homoerotic commercial"._ Inspired by this, Roger Avary wrote an embellished piece about it, which then Tarantino took and used in his small role in the film *Sleep With Me.*
