I am now 80, single woman farmer, high desert California. I saw what was coming in 2008. Living on/off grid since then. I remain pretty much untouched by what is going on in this crazy country. Life is good ...peace-full. subscribed.....you just showed up on my feed this morning.

Hello young man ๐Ÿ˜‰ Your thoughts and goals were always my dream when I was younger. But after I got married, I could no longer make them a reality. I only managed to live in a small house with my wife right next to fields and forests. Now all my friends and relatives, as well as my wife, have passed away. I am now 76 years old and have care level 4. I can only get out of the house in a wheelchair. After heart attacks and colon cancer, which has already spread and is no longer treatable, I am now awaiting my death. But I am happy here in my natural home. Keep up the good work, and all the best to you! Best wishes from Germany๐Ÿ•Š๐Ÿ€โœŒ

I am 36 year old lawyer with the kind of status that people would say "oh wow". I tried climbing up the ladder for years and somehow, I always felt empty inside. I felt unfit, like, there is no real place for me in this world. None of the status, money or social life matters. But when I started to do herbalism, taking care of the earth, being surrounded by simpler and kinder people and animals, out in the nature, that's when I felt that there is a place for me in this world for the first time. Now I am investing time and some money to do what you do and move somewhere in the north (since I am half Norwegian) in the forest with my cat. I think this sounds good to me :-) Thank you for showing us the realistic side of it and for being vulnerable enough to not try and make it sound like a dream life - but a REAL life. Take care

This is my first time seeing your channel but just wanted to say congratulations. I left the rat race back in 2013 and did the exact same thing . I bought 20 acres in Tennessee and was so excited to get there that I moved to my land with only a tent and two dogs . I didnt stay in that tent very long though because it was october and starting to get cold . I built my cabin pretty quickly . Started small and added on over the years . ๐Ÿ˜Š

Youโ€™ve captured something rare here: the paradox of simplifying your life and how complex that actually is in practice.

I think you are a remarkable person. You have overcome so much on your way to the life you desire. You are completely in charge of your life and that can be very liberating. Goodbye rat race and hello freedom.

Thanks for sharing your journey Anders, it takes a lot of inner strength to do what you did and follow your heart and soul & dreams when society says something different. I admire you. I too have lived an unconventional life and the older I get the easier it gets to be true to myself, even when others don't understand. All the best, your homestead is looking amazing.

I wish we would have recorded and documented our tiny cabin (400 sq. ft, wood stove, we recently got internet the last 3 months) and forest clearing project over the last 10 years. We pretty much did the same thing, we are located in Arkansas USA. But at the end of the day, living in a tent, processing trees, hauling water, building... I was too *exhausted* to even contemplate making content, and my husband is not a tech person, so the entire burden would have been on me. But yeah, I live rent free now and it's pretty amazing.

Thank you for this video. I have fallen into a similar situation. Last year, I went through a divorce and became somewhat homeless. I have a roof over my head, but I don't really own a home since i am living off grid in my camp. What you putlined is very true - economic, social, etc. I, too, am experiencing the same. Thanks again and keep up the great work making videos.

I'm 28 y.o. And I feel weird when I look back and see spending most of my life studying, then working and right now I just can't help of think about living in a farm on my own. My father in law retired 5 years ago and started living like this. I just told him "man, you did it" it's so peaceful and full of meaningful work. I try not to romanticize but still, life in the city is just not for me. I need to find a way of making this dream sustainable. Money doesn't come out trees.
