The United Arab Emirates are so much more than just desert and oil. From mangrove forests, to wadis and Oryx filled nature reserves, the geography of the UAE has so many stories to tell, which we will explore in this video.

I was in Dubai in 1975-1977 teaching at the Dubai Petroleum Company American School when the tallest building was the 7-story Sheikha Latifa where I had an apartment, we shopped at the suq, met with the Sheik who held public meetings once a year, and there was one bridge crossing Dubai Creek where dhows that smuggled pearls were anchored. I had a jeep, which was the only way to get to Fujeirah through wadis since there was no real road. Went back in 2024...couldn't find my way around. Incredible.
