Even the background music shtick feels a) dated like it's from at most early 2010s; and b) manipulative in the sense that it tells you "you're low IQ so the music will emphasise which part is sad and which is hopeful". It's 2026 and they can't move forward from a messaging approach that didn't work in 2016.

This ad sounds and looks like an ad from a corporation offering min. wage jobs. One wants to ask "How much is that after taxes?"

"...but wait until things start to get better".
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. So once again we get the old, "Do not believe your lying eyes".

"Spread-shit" was the perfect verbal stumble!
The problem with Starmer and Labour is they seem to have zero personality. I can't name half of the cabinet. I only know the Chancellor because she's so clueless.
We used to joke about John Major being grey and dull, but he was a Dulux colour chart compared to the current Labour party offering!

its hard to square your assertion that centrist tecnocratic parties are reasonably well intentioned with the other claim that this is the biggest crisis of trust for a very long time. surely these parties, which have been ruling for decades, are the ones responsible for said crisis of trust?

I agree on all points. Especially the images. The bar for naturalism for images we swim in is in a different place, so this feels like plastic stock footage from a barbie world, not the world the viewers live in. The "worker tips hardhat", the smooth drone shots of industry... "i'm watching an advertisement". Nigel can beat all of that saying "big chungus" in a wide-angle Cameo selfie. As we get swamped with AI-generated video trained on stock footage the stock look will keep growing more alien.

Just the first sentence shows how detached politicians are from actual reality. What a load of spreadsheet.

Alistair Campbell, the guy who promoted the dodgy dossier that justified the UKβs entry into an illegal war, responsible for the deaths of millions. That Alistair? He has the temerity to comment on a deficit of trust in politicians?

Political speech of renewal, high viz jackets and ends with a flag. Labour's AI prompt.
