In the Azores, the team follows the elusive sperm whales to its hunting grounds a mile beneath the surface, where they discover the secret lives of these deep-diving whales. State-of-the-art camera systems and the Oceanxplorer’s submersibles explore this world of eternal darkness, capturing the whale’s main prey — an enormous squid, never filmed before in these Atlantic waters. To catch a Sperm Whale in the midst of a mile long dive catching Humboldt or Giant Squid would be an amazing thing to see, but to see this magnificent whale at a depth of over a thousand meet is incredible, to get a taste of their lives in the darkness of our oceans is awe inspiring!

Amazing!!! I so wanted to be a Marine Biologist but as life would have it, I went the psychology path. I will always love the ocean and the incredible life forces that live there.

The whole thing felt like the setup of a movie, each character with their specific skill set, cutting edge exploration. I was just waiting for things to go sour and for the navy seal dude to have to punch a Megalodon.

I’m so jealous. I want to be there. So concerned about ocean conservation because the currents(?) are stopping or changing? Very frightening.
